Eight students drowned in an accident at Diveagar Beach in Raigad district, Maharashtra, India.
According to the Superintendent of Police's office, 48 students and teachers from Winners Academy in Alandi, Pune, had gone to Diveagar Beach for a picnic and educational tour.
According to news agency ANI, the group consisted of 25 boys, 17 girls, and six teachers. They had come to visit the Dighi and Diveagar beach areas. During the incident, some students entered the sea and became victims of the accident.
The Superintendent of Police's office stated that eight students died in the incident. A rescue and relief operation was launched, and the remaining students were evacuated to safety.
The administration has launched an investigation into the incident. The cause and circumstances of the accident are being ascertained. The police and local administration are engaged in further legal proceedings.
