Equation has changed in the bye-elections of Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. In the counting on Wednesday, the Samajwadi Party has won the Phulpur Lok Sabha seat and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat.
Samajwadi Party candidate Nagendra Singh Patel in Phulpur defeated BJP candidate Kushendra Singh Patel by 59,613 votes.
In Gorakhpur, Samajwadi Party candidate Pravin Nishad defeated BJP candidate Upendra Dutt Shukla with 21,000 votes.
Earlier, on Gorakhpur seat, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath and on Phulpur seat, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya were MPs.
The BSP supported the Samajwadi Party in these elections.
