In the elections held for the local body of Madhya Pradesh, the BJP is feeling victorious by winning 26 out of 43 seats, but the results are also feeling better than the Congress.
Congress has benefited five seats in the elections, whereas BJP has lost three seats compared to last time.
Mandsaur, where a few months ago, killed five people in police firing on protesting farmers. This time BJP got less than three seats. Congress won three seats in Mandsaur.
In Madhya Pradesh assembly elections are due next year, therefore the Congress is excited by the results of local body.
Out of the total 43 municipalities, BJP won 26, Congress 14 and 3 Independents won. Last year, BJP won 29 seats. Congress has hoisted its flag on five more bodies this time compared to the last time.
BJP lost in two wards of Shangar Nagar in Mandsaur district and in a ward of Panchayat Garoth. BJP has been here since 2003. But the Vyapam scam and the agitation of the farmers have to face the BJP.
BJP has given credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and National President Amit Shah for winning the local bodies. Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Madhya Pradesh on a three-day tour on August 18. Legislative elections are held in big states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh this year and next year, where BJP is in power.
