After the withdrawal of special status of Jammu and Kashmir in India, the major political parties of the Union Territory, except BJP, came together on Saturday and issued a statement to restore Article-370. The statement said that they will fight over it.

National Conference (NC), People's Democratic Party (PDP), People's Conference, CPIM, Congress and Awami National Conference are the parties that signed the 'Gupkar Manifesto'.

The signatories of the 'Gupkar Manifesto' said in the statement that the move of the Central Government on 5 August 2019 has changed the relationship between Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi.

The statement said that all parties will follow the 'Gupkar Manifesto' of August 4, 2019, in which regional parties have promised to fight to preserve the special status of Jammu and Kashmir given under the Constitution.

PDP leader and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state Mehbooba Mufti is still in custody.

Last year, the Central Government abolished the special status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two union territories.

Hundreds of politicians were detained after the removal of Article 370 and many were detained under laws such as the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).

Three former chief ministers of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, were detained under the same PSA law.

The custody of Mehbooba Mufti has been extended for another three months.

After the removal of Article 370, all means of communication were discontinued and curfew was imposed along with stringent restrictions. Along with this, heavy security forces were deployed to prevent any protests.

The joint statement of all the parties calls for the reinstatement of Articles 370 and 35A. It has also been said that the division of the state is unacceptable.

On August 5, 2019, all the leaders have said that it was unconstitutional and tried to abolish the constitution.

The statement said, "Who are we?" This attempt took place to reinterpret it. These changes happened in oppressive ways to keep people silent and suppress them. ''

Last year, the mainstream political leadership in Kashmir signed the 'Declaration Declaration'.

In this manifesto, it was unanimously decided that all the parties will remain united for maintaining the identity, autonomy, security, special status of Jammu and Kashmir and any kind of attack.

The meeting was held on Gupkar Road, home of senior NC leader and MP Farooq Abdullah, hence the manifesto was named 'Gupkar Manifesto'.
