BCCI Don't Agree on Proposed Revenue Model

The BCCI has not yet announced the team for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in England from June 1 and is seeking its shareholding under the old Big Three Revenue Model from the ICC.

Tuesday is the last day for declaring teams for Champions Trophy and the BCCI has not announced the team till now.

It is believed that India can postpone the announcement of its team for ICC Champions Trophy until the ICC Board meeting on April 27 and 28 in Dubai. The Indian board is stuck on its old revenue in the Big Three model in the ICC which was established in 2014.

Under the new revenue model, BCCI has been offered a stake of $ 29 million, but the BCCI has told the full members of the ICC that it wants a stake of $ 57 million, which was in the old revenue model.

ICC President Shashank Manohar had offered to give an additional $ 10 million to the Indian Board in the last conversation with the BCCI-appointed Administrator's Committee (COA), to which the BCCI's share would reach 40 million dollars. But the BCCI has rejected this offer.

After meeting with nine other full members, its secretary Amitabh Choudhary, who is going to represent the BCCI in the ICC meeting, said that the BCCI wants a stake of $ 57 million, but that the remaining full members will not be reduced.

In this battle of revenue sharing, the announcement of the Indian team for the Champions Trophy can be delayed and BCCI can also use India's participation in the Champions Trophy as a weapon. Although COA has advised Amitabh Chaudhary to keep a soft stance, but it is believed that Amitabh Chaudhary will act contrary to this advice.

On the proposed revenue model, the ICC and the BCCI are determined because the share of India is being reduced. In the current revenue distribution model, the BCCI gets USD 57.90 million from the ICC. If the ICC passes the Manohar proposal, then the BCCI's share will go to $ 29 million, which will not be approved by the administrators' committee.

The ICC needs a complete understanding of the BCCI's consent to approve its new financial model and to make some other improvements. Meanwhile, it is understood that the BCCI has asked the full members of the ICC to postpone these reforms until after June.
