Bangladesh Home Affairs Advisor Sakhawat Hussain apologizes to minorities

Bangladesh Home Affairs Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hussain has apologized for failing to provide security to minorities.

Sakhawat Hussain said, "It is the responsibility of the majority to provide security to the minorities. But they failed to provide them security. You go to the mosque and offer prayers five times but could not provide security to the minorities. This is in our religion. It is your responsibility to provide security to the minorities. You failed. You will have to answer for this.''

Sakhawat Hussain said, "I apologize to my minority brothers. Brothers, please forgive us. The situation is still unstable here. We could not provide you security everywhere. In some places, people of civil society have provided security to the minorities. The condition of the police and Rapid Action Force is still not good. But the situation will improve.''

Sakhawat Hussain has assured to make all kinds of security arrangements for Janmashtami Puja. He also suggested to extend the Durga Puja holiday by three days.

Sakhawat Hussain said, "Police, Ansar, BGB will provide as much security as they want in the Puja. District administrators will take responsibility in this matter. Our job is to protect everyone, whether they are Hindus, Muslims, Christians. I hope they will be convinced by my words.''

Sakhawat Hussain also said, "We do not want any third party to defame the country. Many people say that they will go there (India). But no one wants to be a second class citizen."
