25 Lakh People Died in 2015 from Pollution in India

Due to air, water and other pollution in 2015 in India occurred the highest death in the world.

Due to pollution, 25 lakh people died in India in 2015.

This has been said in a study published on Friday in the Lancet Journal.

Researchers said that most of these deaths caused due to non-communicable diseases such as heart diseases, stroke, lung cancer, and severe respiratory illness COPD due to pollution.

According to the study, air pollution is the biggest factor, due to which in the world 6.5 million people died in 2015, while water pollution (1.8 million deaths) and workplace pollution (8 lakhs deaths) are the next major risk.

The researchers included experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) of Delhi and Ikanha School of Medicine of America.

Researchers said that 92 percent of the pollution related to death occurred in low to middle income group. One of the four deaths occurring due to pollution in the fast-linked countries of industrialization like India, Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Madagascar and Kenya.

The study said, "In 2015, due to pollution in India, the maximum number of deaths was 25 lakhs, while the number of people killed in China was 18 lakhs."

Due to pollution, around 9 million people die every year worldwide, which is the sixth part of total deaths.
