Nadim Nuwarra was shot dead during protests marking the anniversary of the Nakba - when Palestinians were expelled from their homeland.
Nuwarra's father and human rights groups have condemned the sentence as too lenient.
Al Jazeera's Harry Fawcett reports from the occupied West Bank.
