Israel releases 39 Palestinian prisoners after Hamas releases 17 hostages
Monday, 27 November 2023
After Hamas released a total of 14 Israeli and three foreign hostages, Israel has also released 39 Palestinian prisoners from its prison.
Israel's prison service has given this information.
As soon as 39 Palestinians were released from prison by the Israeli army, these people hoisted their flags.
Under the agreement between Hamas and Israel, a four-day temporary ceasefire was declared which is effective from Friday, 24 November 2023. Monday, 27 November 2023 is the fourth day of this ceasefire.
It seems that the duration of the ceasefire between the two is going to increase.
On the night of Sunday, November 26, 2023, Hamas proposed extending the ceasefire in exchange for increasing the number of Israeli hostages to be released.
A senior Palestinian official told the BBC that Hamas has told mediators it wants to extend the ceasefire for two to four days in exchange for the release of an additional 20 to 40 hostages.
After this, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement mentioned the clause of the agreement under which it was said that this temporary ceasefire would be extended for 24 hours in exchange for the release of every additional 10 hostages. Binyamin Netanyahu called this point of agreement a 'boon'.
However, Binyamin Netanyahu has also said that as soon as the temporary ceasefire ends under the agreement, Israel will attack with full force.
Under the ongoing deal between Hamas and Israel, Hamas is releasing a total of 50 Israeli hostages and in return Israel will release a total of 150 Palestinian prisoners from its prison.
During this period, Israel will not carry out any attacks on Gaza nor will there be any arrests for four days.
America: Reward given to anyone who gives information about who shot Palestinian students
Monday, 27 November 2023
A reward of 10,000 US dollars will be given to anyone who provides information about who shot three Palestinian students at a university in America.
This reward has been announced by an American group working for Muslim civil rights.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called on the administration to also investigate a possible "bias motive" in the shooting. The group claims that 'there has been an unprecedented increase in anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hatred'.
Hisham Awartani, Tahsin Ahmed and Kinnan Abdelhamid were shot by a man near the University of Vermont campus while they were out having dinner with family, according to Burlington police.
Officers say they are investigating the motive for the attack but he was wearing a kaffiya (traditional scarf) and was speaking Arabic when he was attacked.
Burlington Police Chief John Moore says two people are in stable condition and a third is seriously injured.
The police is busy searching for the suspect.
Will the expiring ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas proceed?
Monday, 27 November 2023
The last group of hostages scheduled under the Israel-Hamas deal will be released on Monday, November 27, 2023, the BBC's Hugo Bachega reports from Jerusalem. Israel is releasing three Palestinian prisoners from its prison in exchange for each Israeli hostage.
Under the deal reached, a four-day temporary ceasefire was declared, which is effective from Friday, 24 November 2023. Monday, 27 November 2023 is the fourth day of this ceasefire. But there are indications that the duration of ceasefire between the two sides may increase.
When Israel officially announced this agreement, it said that there is a clause in the agreement in which this temporary ceasefire will be extended for 24 hours in exchange for the release of every additional 10 hostages.
Hamas says that it may be ready to extend the duration of this ceasefire.
A senior Palestinian official told the BBC that Hamas has told mediators it wants to extend the ceasefire for two to four days in exchange for the release of an additional 20 to 40 hostages.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already said that he is ready to take the deal forward. But he has also said that the temporary ceasefire implemented under the agreement will end and Israel will attack with full force.
Under the current deal, Hamas is releasing a total of 50 Israeli hostages and in return Israel is releasing a total of 150 Palestinian prisoners from its prison.
