Why private hospitals taking free land cannot do free treatment: Supreme Court

POSTER

The Supreme Court in India on Wednesday asked the central government why private hospitals that have been given free land cannot treat Corona virus patients free or for a nominal fee.

The court has sought a response from the central government within a week and said that hospitals which can treat patients for free or for a nominal fee should be identified.

The Supreme Court was hearing the petition of a person named Sachin Jain. This petition demanded that guidelines for treatment for Covid-19 patients be given free or at a very nominal price.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde heard this and demanded a detailed report from the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta within a week.

The Supreme Court asked the central government, "When private hospitals can be given land for free, why can't they treat Covid-19 patients free of cost? If they have been given land for free or at a very nominal price, then those charitable hospitals should treat them free. ''

Hearing on the case of migrant workers tomorrow

At the same time, yesterday the Supreme Court took cognizance of the situation of the migrant laborers trapped in the country and directed the Central and State Governments to make proper arrangements for them.

The Supreme Court had told the central and state governments that there were loopholes in the steps taken by them.

The matter related to migrant workers will be heard tomorrow.
