What's behind the ethnic violence in Mali?

 12 Jun 2019 ( News Bureau )

Dozens of villagers are killed months after a similar attack.

Ethnic tension is threatening to further destabilise Mali.

Violence is worsening in the long-running dispute between the Dogon and Fulani peoples - and armed groups linked to Al Qaeda are exploiting the unrest.

A village home to Dogon farmers was attacked by men armed with machetes and guns.

At least 95 people were killed.

Sunday's attack is similar to the ransacking of a Fulani village in March, where nearly 160 died.

What's behind these killings?

And why can’t Mali's government protect its people?
