What did Israeli Ambassador to India Naor Gilon say amid tensions with Iran?

Monday, April 15, 2024

Israel's Ambassador to India Naor Gilon has said that he hopes that India will help in stopping Iran's attempts to create instability in West Asia.

Naor Gilon described India as a friend of Israel.

Naor Gillon said, “West Asia is very important for India, because millions of Indian citizens are working there. I think India will play an important role in stopping Iran. Iran cannot continue this behavior.”

There is a constant situation of tension between Israel and Iran.

The Iranian Consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria, was attacked on April 1, 2024. Two senior Iranian military commanders were killed in this. Iran has blamed Israel for this attack.

Israel, however, has not claimed responsibility for this attack.

Iran fired more than 300 missiles and drones at Israel late on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Iran described the attack as retaliation for Israel's attack on Iran's Consulate.

However, most of the attacking drones and missiles fired by Iran were shot down in the air by Israel with the help of America and Britain.

Since this incident, tension between Israel and Iran has increased, posing a threat to the entire Middle East region.

India has close relations with both Israel and Iran. India has appealed to both the countries to exercise restraint.
