Triple Talaq Bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha of India. During the discussions on the bill in the House on Thursday, there was tremendous resentment between the Modi government and the opposition and in the evening voting on the amendment proposals related to it. In voting 245 in favor and 11 votes in the opposition. All amendments to AIMIM's chief Asaduddin Owaisi have been rejected.

However, at the time of voting, Congress and AIADMK have walked out of the Lok Sabha. During the discussions, Congress, TMC and several opposition parties remained firm on the demand of sending Triple Talaq Bill to the Joint Select Committee. In order to pass the Triple Talaq Bill in the Lok Sabha, the BJP had already asked its MPs to issue a whip and be present in the House.

In the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge said that this bill, brought to the name of women, is not to add society, it is a bill to break society. He said that it is against equality rights and Islam also. Kharge said that in the name of religion this bill discriminates and against religious freedom. Kharge said that the government can not make any law against the basic premise of the Constitution.

Terming 'Muslim women (marriage rights protection) Bill' as the subject of women's justice and respect for the purpose of barring Triple Talaq (Talaq-A-Biddat) at a time in the Muslim society, the Modi government said that Instead of weighing on the scales of politics, weighing on the scales of justice, the whole parliament should pass it in all consensus. Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, while keeping the bill for discussion, said that this bill has been brought in the backdrop of the Supreme Court declaring Triple Talaq as unconstitutional. Since January 2017, 417 incidents of Triple Talaq have surfaced. He said that the wife burnt the roti (bread), the wife was fat. In such cases Triple Talaq were also given. Prasad said that there are no Triple Talaq in more than 20 Islamic countries. We have improved the previous bill and now the magistrate can give bail. The Minister said that Parliament made laws against dowry, made laws against domestic violence, made laws to stop torture on women. Then why can not the Parliament speak in a voice against Triple Talaq? Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "The entire matter should not be weighed on the scales of politics, this subject should be weighed on the scale of justice. He said that if there is any suggestion about this then tell it. ... But the question is whether the three divorced women will not get justice for political reasons. He said that this woman is related to respect and justice and Parliament should pass it in a voice.

Describing the Bill as a historic step of the Narendra Modi government, Meenakshi Lekhi of BJP said that the Triple Talaq were declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court and there is no mention of this practice in the Quran. She said that due to the politics of appeasement of the Congress, this practice has been going on till now, due to which the Muslim women have to suffer. The BJP MP said that Triple Talaq have been abolished in many Islamic countries, but it is running in a secular country like India. Meenakshi Lekhi said that if the Congress takes steps 30 years ago then history will change. She said that Modi government has taken many steps for women and it has also been raised for the empowerment of Muslim women.

Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Triple Talaq Bill is for providing justice to Muslim women. It has not been brought to target anyone.

Supporting the bill, Shiv Sena's Arvind Sawant said that due to its law, Muslim women will be happier.

Initiating the discussion on the bill, Congress's Sushmita Dev said that her party is not against this bill, but in the Government's mouth 'Ram is opposing the attitude of' Chhuri in the side' because the intention of the government is to not provide justice to Muslim women and empower them, but to punish Muslim men.

BJD opposed this bill in the Lok Sabha. Ravindra Kumar Jena of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) alleged that this bill has been brought to target people of a particular religion. He said the bill was against constitutional provisions and said that no concrete steps have been taken to prevent misuse of the proposed law.

Jaydev Galla of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) opposed the bill saying that the government had brought Triple Talaq Ordinances with the intention of political gains, but in the recent assembly elections of five states no benefit was given to it. He said that the government should not pay attention to the Muslim men and women suffering from the incidents of killing by mob before worrying about three divorced Muslim women. Galla said that this bill should be sent to the Parliamentary Committee or the Select Committee.

Jitendra Reddy of the Telangana Nation Committee (TRS) opposed the bill and said that there is a big question about the intention and timing to bring this bill. He said that for the empowerment of the minorities it is necessary that the government should pay attention to their education and employment.

Sundeep Bandyopadhyay of Trinamool Congress said that the bill brought to Muslim women to get rid of Triple Talaq is a welcome move but their party opposes the provision of jail sentence for the guilty husband giving immediate Triple Talaq to his wife. He said that his party demands that this Bill be referred to the Select Committee for consideration. Bandyopadhyay said that the immediate Triple Talaq are completely sin. A large section of the Muslim community considers it to be sin and unacceptable.

Anwar Raza of AIADMK opposed the bill and said that it is very unfortunate that the government did not make major amendments in the earlier bill and brought a bill against constitutional provisions. He alleged that this bill is against communal harmony and constitution.

On the demand of opposition members to send this Bill to the Select Committee, Lok Sabha speaker said that this is an important bill and the House should discuss it.
