Let us know that this bill has passed without any amendment. All revisions were rejected. Some amendments were made to the bill, in which two amendment were carried forward by Owaisi. Whereas, an amendment had been enhanced by the Bhartrihari Mahatav of the Biju Janata Dal. At the same time, Sushmita Dev from the Congress and A Sanpath of CPIM had forwarded the amendments, which were refused in Parliament. Now this bill will go to the Rajya Sabha.
Earlier, the government had introduced the 'Muslim Women (Marriage Rights Protection) Bill, 2017' on Thursday in connection with the ban of Triple Talaq and protecting the rights of married Muslim women. The bill also discussed in the House.
Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad presented this bill. He said that this law is historic and after the Supreme Court declared 'Talaq-e-Bidat' illegal, it has become necessary to pass the bill in this regard by the House to get justice for Muslim women.
He dismissed the objections of some members in this regard and said that this law is not related to any religion but is related to women's honor.
At the same time, AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi had opposed it. He alleged that this bill ignores the constitution and does not fit in the legal framework.
He also said that there are other provisions under the domestic violence law and the IPC to deal with the issues of injustice to Muslim women and such new laws are not needed.
