In a US report, India has expressed strong objections to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir for writing Azad Kashmir. India has protested against the US over this. In the US State Department Report 'Country Report on Terrorism 2016', released on July 19, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has been called Azad Kashmir, although it has also been mentioned in the report that the use of this area is used by terrorists to carry out terrorist activities in India.

According to the Foreign Ministry spokesman of India, after the release of this report, India has protested against the American administration. After India's opposition, US officials acknowledged that there is anomalies in the description of Jammu and Kashmir of US, but the US says there is no change in its policy regarding Jammu and Kashmir.

The US State Department spokesman told the news agency PTI, "Our policy on Kashmir has not changed. Both associate countries will determine the speed, scope and character of discussions related to Kashmir, but we support all the positive steps taken by India and Pakistan for the development of close relations."

Tell that this is the first time that the US has addressed the PoK as Azad Kashmir. The US administration has been using the term 'Pakistan-administered Kashmir' for this area.

However, it is a matter of satisfaction for India that in this report Jammu and Kashmir is said to be the state of India, whereas the US government first used the term 'India administered Kashmir' for this.
