NDTV has sent a letter to BSE Limited today (September 22), in which NDTV has said that it is not going to sell any of their stake. It becomes clear that the news of the sale of NDTV was wrong.
There was a news that the TV channel NDTV can get new owner soon Sources of Indian Express told that Ajay Singh, co-founder and owner of SpiceJet, is going to be the biggest shareholder of NDTV.
Ajay Singh was involved in the core team of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 2014 election campaign. When the Indian Express asked the NDTV source that did the channel have been sold to Ajay Singh of SpiceJet? The answer was, "Yes, the deal has been fixed and with the editorial authority, the channel will be controlled by Ajay Singh."
CBI is investigating a case of financial transactions of NDTV promoters Pranay Roy, Radhika Roy and promoter RRP Holding Private Limited. On June 5 this year, the CBI raided Roy couple's residence and office in the case connection with alleged non-payment of bank loan.
NDTV had declared all the allegations baseless in the statement issued after raids.
According to sources, SpiceJet chairman Ajay Singh will have around 40 percent share of NDTV.
Pranay Roy and Radhika Roy will have around 20 per cent shares.
According to the figures from the Bombay Stock Exchange till June 2017, promoters in NDTV have 61.45 percent stake. On the same, 38.55 percent share is with public shareholders.
According to sources, Ajay Singh will also pay a loan of 400 crore rupees of NDTV.
The total deal is being said to be about Rs 600 crore.
About 100 crores cash can be given to the Roy couple in the deal.
When asked about the deal with NDTV from SpiceJet, its officials called it completely baseless and incorrect. Email and mobile messages sent to NDTV did not respond.
Ajay Singh took command of SpiceJet in January 2015 and made it successful. During the campaigning of Narendra Modi, credit is given to Ajay Singh, the 'Abki Bar Modi Sarakar'. He has been the OSD of Pramod Mahajan during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government. During that time, he played a major role in launching of DD Sports and DD News.
Ajay Singh was in the board of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) in 1996. He had planned the rejuvenation of DTC. During his tenure, the number of DTC buses was 300 to 6000.
Ajay Singh from Delhi's St. Columba is B.Tech from IIT Delhi. He has done an MBA from Cornell University and has also studied law from Delhi University.
In the end, the biggest question is how did Ajay Singh, who started his career as an OSD in Pramod Mahajan, got so much money?
