Congress today accused the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he is treating as stepmother with Kerala facing a fierce flood. The Congress questioned that when he spent Rs 5000 crore on advertisements for his campaign, then why did he give only 500 crores for the people of Kerala? The Congress also claimed that Prime Minister Modi did not declare the flood of Kerala as a national calamity, because doing so would give the Center a bigger amount.
Congress spokesman Jayvir Shergill told reporters that Prime Minister Modi's attitude is discriminatory. He is doing politics on the life of flood victims today. There was a demand of interim relief of Rs two thousand crore, but only Rs 500 crore was given. He said that the amount of generosity that Prime Minister Modi displays on advertisements and publicity, should be shown for the same generosity of Kerala. When Prime Minister Modi spends Rs 5000 crore on his campaign, then why did he give only 500 crores to Kerala?
Shergill asked if Prime Minister Modi can use taxpayers' money in his campaign, then the country is asking why he did not pay enough money for Kerala? He said that Chief Ministers of Congress State Governments and other parties have helped. The way Prime Minister Modi showed his step-by-step approach to Kerala, it is revealed that his point in Team India is a hypocrisy.
He claimed that Prime Minister Modi did not declare the flood of Kerala as a national calamity because the Center had to spend money in such a way. If you declare a national calamity, you will have to create a disaster fund and 75 percent of the cost will be given to the center. In fact, Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Congress Party have demanded the declaration of the flood of Kerala as a national calamity.
