Terrorists have Attacked the Mixed Culture of Kashmir: Congress

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday announced a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh to the bus driver Shaikh Saleem, who saved many lives on Monday night with the expertise of vehicle driving, his sensible and courage during the terrorist attack.

A spokesman of the police said that there were 61 passengers rider in the bus, all of which were pilgrims from Amarnath. The bus was driving Sheikh Salim, a resident of Gujarat. Salim was bringing the valley to the pilgrims of the Amarnath Yatra for the past several years. Seven pilgrims died on a bus attack by militants in the Kambal area on Jammu-Srinagar Highway, while 32 others were injured.

At the same time, civilian organizations in Kashmir protested about the terrorist attack on the Amarnath pilgrims in capital Srinagar on Tuesday. Protesters protested at Pratap Park here at 5.30 pm. The organizers of this protest issued a statement and said, "Come together, demonstrate solidarity with the people clearly and firmly and demand that a credible investigation of this incident and all crimes in Jammu and Kashmir.''

The terrorist attacks in Kashmir were also condemned around, including from leaders of the mainstream and separatist groups, traders, teachers, professionals, intellectuals and the general public. On Tuesday, the opposition criticized the Center's Narendra Modi government and the state government headed by Mehbooba Mufti for failure to provide security to the pilgrims.

Terming the terrorist attack as inhuman and barbarous, the Congress said that the Modi government has failed to provide security to pilgrims. Congress has demanded decisive action against those involved in the incident.

Congress spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters, "Congress demands protection of all pilgrims for sacred pilgrimage. The Prime Minister and the Chief Minister should be told about what steps the government is taking in this regard (terrorist attack)."

He alleged that the terrorist attack carried out by the government and the security forces was a serious negligence.

Surjevala said, "It is time that the government should work and leave the words and meetings and take decisive action against terrorism."

He said that the terrorists attacked the mixed culture of Kashmir.

He said, "The nation is shocked and overwhelmed by the terrorist attack on Amarnath pilgrims." What is the current government doing, is this a silent question?"

Surjewala said, "What will the Prime Minister give the statement and assure the country that what the government will take decisive action to ensure national security and it will be safe at all costs."

He said, "If on June 25 only intelligence was found that Amarnath yatra would be attacked, then why were not adopted measures to stop it? What measures were taken to make this unsuccessful? Will we once again lose such an important issue in meetings and inquiries, or by deciding the decisive action, punish the culprits who have dared to terrorist attack on the most sacred religious journey of the country."
