After the recent border dispute in Sikkim between India and China, the two countries have increased security arrangements in this area. Both China and India have deployed three-three thousand troops in this area.
Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat visited the 17 Mountain Division of Gangtok and 27 Mountain Division in Kalimpong on Thursday (June 29).
The dispute began when Chinese troops destroyed two temporary bunkers in the Indian territory. The disputed area located in Sikkim of India is near the border of Bhutan and Tibet.
According to the Times of India report, the situation in this area, especially Doka La, has remained serious for many years. Both the countries do not want to retreat their soldiers. Indian soldiers created a human wall to stop China's latest attempt to infiltrate. Bipin Rawat gave special attention to the 17th Division in his tour. Four brigades of 17th Division have the responsibility of protecting Eastern Sikkim. There are more than three thousand soldiers in every brigade. All the officers of 33 Corps and 17th Division were present during Bipin Rawat tour. Rawat returned to New Delhi on Friday (June 30th) morning.
China wants to make the road going to Dokalam valley of Bhutan in this area, but India has clearly refused to allow it to do so. Bhutan has also asked China to stop road construction. China is building a high quality road that can be easily accessible by heavy military vehicles.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chinese army said that he conducted a road test of a tank of 35 tons in Tibet. It is believed that China is building up to 40 tons weightable road.
China wants to strengthen its strategic position in its Chanbi valley, which is growing between Sikkim and Bhutan, by constructing a road in the Dokalam valley of 269 square kilometers. China wants Bhutan to hand over the Dokalam Valley to him, in return, he will leave his claim on the area of 495 square kilometers of northern Bhutan. But India is very sensitive to this area in view of its security needs.
