In India, the Supreme Court has extended the last date for linking the Aadhaar. The Supreme Court said, till the Constitution Bench's decision on the validity of the Aadhaar scheme does not come, the linking is not necessary.
This means that unless the Supreme Court's constitution bench does not decide on the matter related to linking with the Aadhaar, then there is no need to link the Aadhaar.
Under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of India Deepak Mishra, the Constitutional Bench of five Supreme Court judges said that the government can not force anybody on Aadhaar linking. No date has been prescribed for this from the Supreme Court.
Let us know that the last date for linking the Aadhaar from mobile, banking, income tax, PAN card etc was 31 March 2018.
Explain that the Supreme Court extend the date of Aadhaar linking on February 23, 2018 to 31 March 2018.
The government has made it mandatory to link the Aadhar card to the bank account to avail benefit under government schemes. Information about the Aadhaar card is necessary for pension, LPG cylinders, government scholarship. The government has now made the Aadhaar card necessary for driving licenses too. After this, the last date for linking the Aadhaar for all these was increased to 31 March 2018. But after the Supreme Court's decision Aadhaar linking has expired.
