Taking a dig at the results of Gujarat assembly elections, Shiv Sena on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could not win the expected victory.
Shiv Sena MP and spokesman Sanjay Raut told the media, "The BJP had to win in Gujarat. .. He has been in power for 22 years in the state. He used the money force and sent 14 Chief Ministers during the campaign."
Raut said, "His victory had already been decided, but the BJP did not win in the way that he expected."
He said, "The atmosphere in the country is changing and Shiv Sena sees the Congress as a major opposition party."
He further said, "We congratulate both the BJP and the Congress. The results of Gujarat will determine the whole country's thinking."
Shiv Sena on Monday said that the Congress led by Rahul Gandhi has emerged as a "real winner" in tne election.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that coming to power is not a "big thing". The Congress has definitely lost election, but it has defeated the BJP.
Raut said, "You saw that the BJP is coming to power, but the real winner is the Congress Party. They have lost election, but they have defeated the BJP."
He said that BJP has been in power in Gujarat for more than 20 years. Raut said, "It is not great to come to power." Shiv Sena leader also said that BJP's Gujarat model has failed.
Raut claimed, "The model that brought BJP to the path of power in the country has failed. The reason for this is that none of the dreams that you (BJP) have shown to the state and the country, have not been fulfilled."
The Rajya Sabha member said that the BJP vacated the poor pockets by notes ban and made them more poor. He told reporters, "The result was seen in Gujarat."
He said that election results show that people in Gujarat are not happy with the BJP. Shiv Sena leader said that BJP talked about 'Gujarat's development model' and came to power in the country.
He said, "If the people in Gujarat is not happy with the BJP then understand his mind and heart, understand what people feel in the country. The BJP should understand the mentality of the people of Gujarat and the reason for not being happy."
The Rajya Sabha member claimed that whether it is a matter of security or Kashmir, Pakistan, notes ban, unemployment or farmer suicides, the Narendra Modi government has not succeeded on any issue.
Raut's remarks came after Shiv Sena praised Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
Shiv Sena has praised Rahul and said that without care to the results, he was fighting electoral battle in Gujarat and that confidence will take Rahul forward.
The party led by Uddhav said that 47-year-old MP from Amethi has taken over the reins of this oldest party at a very delicate turn. An editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna' wrote, "Rahul Gandhi has accepted responsibility as Congress President at a very delicate turn. There should be no hesitation in giving good luck to them."
