Before the Gujarat elections in India, on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's allegations against former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, while targeting the Modi, said that he should be ashamed.
On the other hand, Congress President Rahul Gandhi termed Modi's statement as unacceptable.
Modi had indicated during his election campaign on Sunday that Pakistan is trying to influence Gujarat assembly elections. They had claimed that some Pakistani officials and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met Manishankar Aiyar's remarks about 'lowly' remarks against him a day earlier.
On this statement of Prime Minister Modi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said that Modi was launching a dangerous pattern and he had demanded apology from the nation in this regard.
Criticizing Modi's statement, Sharad Pawar said, "Prime Minister Modi should be ashamed of accusing such kind of allegations. You made allegations against former Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) and former defense officials of this country.
He said, "The Modi government does not solve the problems of farmers and other issues in front of the country, but it is bringing an angle of Pakistan as a trick to distribute attention during the Gujarat elections." Sharad Pawar said that Modi has ruined the country and reduced the dignity of the Prime Minister's post.
Rahul Gandhi said at a press conference on the last day of campaigning for the Gujarat assembly elections, "Whatever Modiji said about former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, it is unacceptable." He said, "Prime Minister Modiji spoke about corruption There is no single word in it. He is silent about (Amit Shah's son) Jayashah and Rafael deal."
Shiv Sena said that dragging Pakistan in the Gujarat election campaign was an "inappropriate" attempt to win the election. The BJP's allies said that action is expected from a Prime Minister, not to make allegations. Targeting Modi, Shiv Sena said that Gujarat has become important even from Kashmir.
In an editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Samna', Shiv Sena said, "Prime Minister Modi has made serious allegations that Pakistan is trying to intervene in the Gujarat elections. We understand Modi's concerns, but the Prime Minister should take action, should not be charged."
