Senior Congress leader Shankar Singh Vaghela announced to resign from the Congress party. Prior to that, Vaghela said that the party had already expelled them 24 hours ago.
The allegations of Vaghela are wrong, told by Congress. Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said that no action has been taken against Vaghela Jee. The matter of being expelled from the party is also baseless. Vaghela wanted that the Congress president in this state should be removed at this time. But the party is always bigger than any one person.
Senior Congress leader Shankar Singh Vaghela had said that on Friday (July 21) to be removed from Congress in a program organized on his 77th birthday. In a program organized in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Vaghela said that he had been expelled from the party 24 hours ago.
Vaghela said, "The Congress has removed me 24 hours ago, thinking that I do not know what I say, the destruction period opposite intellect."
However, after some time, Vaghela told the media that he has resigned from all the posts of Congress. Vaghela has also resigned from the post of Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.
Vaghela has said that he will not be associated with any other political party. Vaghela made it clear that he would be active in politics.
Elections will be held in Gujarat at the end of this year. Vaghela, while cutting a birthday cake among his supporters, said that he is playing at 77 not out and there is no intention of retirement.
On the other hand senior Congress leader Ambika Soni has resigned from the party's Himachal Pradesh in-charge. At the end of this year there are also elections to be held in Himachal Pradesh.
Shankar Singh Vaghela told the supporters present in the program that he has learned to put poison in his throat with Lord Shiva.
Vaghela was senior BJP leader before joining the Congress. He is the 12th Chief Minister of Gujarat. Waghle has also been a minister in the central government.
The news of the rift between Vaghela and Congress was coming from the past several months. The debate began when Vaghela had unfollowed Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Twitter a few months ago.
Vaghela criticized Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for many occasions. He also questioned the leadership capacity of Rahul Gandhi.
Since then, it was speculated that he would either be fired for anti-party activities or he would leave the party himself.
In the last week of June, Vaghela had said that in Gujarat, Congress is on a suicidal path and if it continues then it will not follow it.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Vaghela, along with Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Nitish Kumar's JDU, could make a third front in Gujarat.
It is believed that Vaghela wanted a larger role in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections, which the Congress high command was not giving them, due to this, he was angry with the party and the leadership.
