Schools open in Kashmir, but children do not come

News agency PTI quoted officials as saying that 190 government primary schools have been opened in Srinagar, Kashmir, India on Monday.

BBC correspondent Riyaz Masroor, present in Srinagar, said that on Saturday, the government had said that all schools would be opened from Monday to eighth grade but after stonewalling incidents in many places on Sunday evening, only schools up to fifth grade were ordered.

Schools were opened in areas where the situation was considered normal and restrictions have been lifted more or less.

Riaz said that school buses did not appear on the streets in Srinagar today morning and when he spoke to the families of the students, he said that children up to the fifth grade are less than 10 years old for which contact with the school and bus driver It is important to be so that they have not sent the children to school.

At the same time, BBC correspondent Aamir Peerzada in Srinagar visited well-known schools in Srinagar.

He told, "We went to the well-known schools in Srinagar. Where earlier we were not allowed to go in. After talking to the Security Guard, we entered inside the school, where we talked to the teachers there. The teachers say that the teacher So we have reached school but the children have not come. "

The teachers told Aamir that two or three children had come, when they saw that no one had come, they too went back home.

After this Aamir also went to another school, where the security guard said, "The children have not reached the school yet. The school buses had gone to bring the children but they returned empty."

The news agency PTI has also told that the teachers arrived in the classrooms but the number of students there was very less.

At the same time, another news agency ANI has reported that high schools, higher secondary schools and all degree colleges are still closed in the valley but all schools are open in Jammu.

According to BBC correspondent Riyaz Masroor, stone pelting incidents occurred in most areas of Srinagar on Sunday in which tear gas shells were also released.

He said that the administration has also said that policemen were also injured in some violent incidents but they were given first aid and discharged from the hospital, apart from this, the administration said that there was no encounter in North Kashmir in the last 15 days and neither Raid incident has taken place.

Riyaz said that people from southern Kashmir have told him that the administration is conducting daily raids to arrest the people and stone pelters who are inciting violence, they are arrested or called to police stations so that no demonstrations can be held.

The BBC correspondent told that Monday's day is considered very important because today is the beginning of a new week and the government spokesperson will give his statement on the efforts being made for peace.

"Government's efforts are to make the situation normal and in view of this, schools have been opened today. Today the government spokesperson will tell how many schools were open and how normal the situation could be."

"The administration wants school buses to be seen on the streets. As far as the business enthusiasts are concerned, they are completely closed. No shops and markets are opening anywhere. Also commercial and public transport are closed."
