India's pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have created history in the Badminton World Championship.
The pair of Satwik and Chirag defeated Japan's Yugo Kobayashi and Takuro Hoki in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals.
With this, he has ensured a medal for India. This will be India's first medal in men's doubles at the World Championship.
The first game of the quarterfinals was very exciting. Players from India and Japan performed brilliantly. Japan's pair is also the current champion. But in the end, the pair of Satwik and Chirag won the first game 24-22.
But in the second game, the odds were reversed. The Indian pair did not perform well. Japan eventually won the game 21-15. Now the match was tied at 1-1.
In the third game, the Indian pair was ahead from the start. At one point they were leading 4-1 and maintained this lead. They made it to the semi-finals by winning the match 21-14.
The pair of Satwik and Chirag also won the gold medal in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
