Rahul Gandhi Said to the Police on Saharanpur Border, You Could not Stop Me on the Border

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today met the relatives of the people affected by the violence in Saharanpur and demanded an impartial inquiry. Senior Congress leader PL Punia, who was present along with Congress Vice President, told from Saharanpur on phone that Rahul assured people affected by the violence that he would work to get justice done to them.

Rahul Gandhi asked the administrative officials to conduct an impartial investigation of this ethnic violence and work to restore peace and brotherhood in the area.

The district administration did not allow Congress Vice President to enter the district. The administration had made strict security arrangements on the border of the district and Rahul was stopped on the border of the district.

On this, the Congress leader asked the administration that under which law he was not allowed to go to the city. One of its videos has also been released by the news agency ANI in which Rahul is telling a police officer that under which law did you try to stop me? You could not stop me on the border, but you stopped. After this he went to a nearby dhaba and met there people and their families affected by ethnic violence.

Punia said that Rahul Gandhi asked the administration to allow him to go to the hospital to meet to the victim of violence people admitted in the hospital.

On this, the administration said that all the people admitted in the hospital have been discharged from the hospital. They said that on Friday night, 23 people were discharged from the hospital by the administration.

Punia said that during the interaction with the affected people, Rahul also raised the issue of giving less compensation to the Dalits whose houses were burnt. On this, the District Magistrate assured him that he would review the matter and take necessary steps in this direction. He told that Rahul later returned to Delhi.

Earlier this morning, Rahul Gandhi left for Saharanpur from Delhi with Uttar Pradesh in-charge of Uttar pradesh Ghulam Nabi Azad and State President Rajbabbar.

Additional director general (law and order) Aditya Mishra, who was present at Saharanpur, had said that Rahul would be requested to not come to the city and if he insists then action will be taken against him under section 144.
