Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that within ten days of his party coming to power in Madhya Pradesh, the farmers' debt will be waived. He said that action will be taken against people responsible for the killing of farmers in firing during last year's agitation in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh.

He made this important announcement while addressing a tribute meeting on the anniversary of farmers' shootout in Pipliyamandi, Mandsaur district. He criticized the Center's Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh's Shivraj Singh Chauhan government's policies and said that the state's map will change when the Congress comes to power.

Rahul Gandhi said that food processing industry will be set up in every district of the state. This will benefit the farmers that their crops or products will be taken to such industry and this will help farmers get more financial benefits. The Congress President said that in Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia will work for the benefit of all, including the farmer. Whatever our party promises will complete. We will not make false promises like 'fifteen lakh rupees'.

Apart from Kamal Nath, Scindia, senior leaders Vivek Tankha, Suresh Pachauri, Digvijay Singh, Arun Yadav, Kantilal Bhuria and other leaders were also present on this occasion. Congress has been out of power for the last fifteen years in the state. The central leadership has recently handed Kamal Nath's command to the state president post of Arun Yadav in the wake of the forthcoming assembly elections. Scindia has been made the Chairman of Election Campaign Committee.

Rahul Gandhi, after meeting with the families of the farmers killed in police firing last year in Mandsaur, said that he can feel the pain of losing his loved ones. He also said that this incident had passed a year, but the report of the inquiry commission has not come yet.

Before addressing the farmers' prosperity resolution rally on the first anniversary of firing on farmers in Mandsaur, Gandhi tweeted, "Even after one year of Mandsaur shooting, the report of the inquiry commission has not been received. The family of martyred farmers is waiting for justice." He said, ''I know the pain of losing his kin. Today, spending a few moments with the victim families tried to share their pain."

It is worth mentioning that six farmers were killed in police firing in Mandsaur last year.
