Swearing in as the 14th President of India on Tuesday (July 25th) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party supported the country's first President Ramnath Kovind did not forget to mention the thinkers who liked the Sangh Parivar in his first speech.
In his speech, President Kovind had not mention of such veterans of the country's politics, who belonged to the Congress and whom they had mentioned, somewhere they prefer saffron forces.
Kovind also mentioned the integral humanism of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, founder of the Jana Sangh. The Congress has criticized President Ramnath Kovind for this issue and accused him of insulting the country and Gandhi in his first speech.
At the same time Congress has criticized the President for not mentioning the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru or any other Congress leader. Talking to the Indian Express, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "Comparing Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay with Mahatma Gandhi and not referring to Jawaharlal Nehru is a disgrace to the country. It is also an insult to Mahatma Gandhi and other independent fighters. This should not have been done in the speech."
He further said, "We had hoped that he is now the President of the country and not the BJP candidate, the President belongs to everyone. But it is unfortunate that the country's first Prime Minister is not mentioned. Nehru was the son of a freedom fighter. His daughter and grandson gave life to the country. From Motilal Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi, no one was mentioned. It was deliberate."
After taking the oath of office, Ramnath Kovind said in his speech, "Our independence was the result of thousands of freedom fighters' efforts under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. Later, Sardar Patel unified our country. The Chief Shilpee of our Constitution, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar communicated human dignity and democratic values in all of us."
In his speech, the President further said, "We have to build a strong economy, a well-educated, ethical and shared community, a society with equal values and equal opportunity. A society that was conceived by Mahatma Gandhi and Deen Dayal Upadhyay ji. It is also important for our human values. It will be India of our dreams. An India that will ensure equal opportunity to all. Such is India, 21st Century India."
Apart from this, Kovind remembered his predecessors at the beginning of his speech, "I have a full understanding of the fact that I am Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and my predecessor Pranab Mukherjee, whom we affectionately called Pranab da, I am going to follow the footsteps of such figures."
Kovind said clearly to Deen Dayal Upadhyay's unity of humanism, "It is also important for our human values. It will be India of our dreams. Such will be India's 21st Century India."
