According to meteorologists, some areas in northwestern India are also moving towards drought this time too. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), in addition to the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi in north-western India, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh, western and eastern Rajasthan also come and the mountainous areas are Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh too.

Meteorologists say that from June 1 to August 14, the north-western region has received more than four percent rain since normal, but due to this data, there is abundant rain in June. Also, rainy season is also contributed by hill areas like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. If it is talked about Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab, the situation here is similar to the last five-six years.

Scientists estimate that in the rainy season, there will not be much rain in these plains during the rainy season. Whatever rain is about to happen, it will be in central India only. This area is still struggling with less than eight percent of normal rainfall.

In May, the American weather company Accuweather had expressed the hope that even though monsoon in India has more than normal rainfall this time, but from some areas in northwestern India to Pakistan, droughts can spread.

This company feared drought in southern Indian peninsula too. The company's weather forecast looks to be correct until half a fortnight of August has passed.
