In India, in the scam case of Punjab National Bank (PNB) of 11400 crore the phase for accusing each other between BJP and Congress has begun, and the CBI has said that diamond trader Nirav Modi gave the most of the scam through the Letter of Understanding (LOU) issued in 2017-18.
The CBI said on Thursday (February 16) that Nirav Modi and his family were foul play through the LOU, so in the year 2017 the old LOUs were also renewed. On Thursday, the CBI registered a case against Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi's maternal uncle and his three companies, claiming that these people caused a loss of Rs 4,886.72 crore to PNB by issuing 143 LOUs in 2017-18. In this case, the first FIR registered on January 31, 2018, it was reported that in the year 2017, there was a scam of 280.7 crore through 8 LOUs. In the FIR, the CBI added the information given on behalf of PNB on Wednesday and the total loss in the first FIR was Rs 6,498 crore.
In every way, PNB has a total loss of Rs. 11400 crores. The CBI also said that since the accused, Nirav Modi and his relative were being manipulated by renewing the LOUs, many old LOUs were renewed in 2017. The CBI questioned four PNB officials on Friday in the case. These officers are being investigated to deal between Modi and his companies between 2014 and 2017.
Among them, Bechoo B Tiwari, Chief Manager of Mumbai's Nariman Point Branch, has done deals between February 2015 and October 2017, the current DGM of PNB and AGM of the then Brandy House Branch Sanjay Kumar Prasad has done deals between May 2016 to May 2017, the then Concurrent Auditor Mohinder Sharma made a deal between November 2015 to 2017 and the then single window operator Manoj Kharat (running the office at that time) made deals between November 2014 to December 2017. All these officials are questioning by the CBI about the PNB scam.
On Thursday, FIR registered against Choski said that accused bank officer Gokulanath Shetty and Manoj Kharat gave encouragement to the accused companies and directors for a scam of Rs 4886.72 crore during 2017-18. FIR includes names of 16 accused, including Choski.
