Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated India's longest road tunnel to the nation on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the midst of tight security. He inaugurated the longest Chenani-Nashri tunnel by pressing the bottom of the remote. J & K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was also present with him. After the inauguration, PM Modi also reviewed the tunnel.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Udhampur Air Station from his special aircraft at around 2:30 pm from Allahabad. They were brought from the Air Force's Mi-17 helicopter to Chenani.

With the opening of this tunnel, the distance between Jammu and Srinagar will be reduced by 30 kilometers. In the days of rain and snowfall, people will get rid of the problem of the highway shutdown.

A multi-level security arrangement has been made for the Prime Minister's visit between the alerts on the border and major establishments in Jammu and Kashmir are being closely monitored.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Jitendra Singh said that this tunnel will save fuel of about 99 crores per year. According to him, this is likely to save fuel of around 27 lakh rupees per day.

This tunnel will reduce travel time between Jammu and Srinagar between the two capitals of Jammu and Srinagar, for two hours. Now the distance between Chenani and Nashri will decrease from 41 kilometers to 10.9 kilometers.

The Union Minister said that this tunnel will change very much.
