Pashinyan calls off mass protests as path to candidacy clears
03 May 2018 ( IBTN News Bureau )Armenia's ruling Republican Party has confirmed it will support opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan's candidacy for prime minister.
The party chairman said in parliament on Thursday that an agreement had been reached.
The announcement comes just hours after Pashinyan suspended nationwide protests ahead of next Tuesday's all-important vote.
Al Jazeera's Robin Forestier-Walker reports from Yerevan.
