AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday termed the demolition of the Babri Masjid as more serious than Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, condemning the delay in completion of the hearing.

He said that in 1992, people responsible for national shame are running the country today.

The Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad tweeted that the trial of the Mahatma Gandhi assassination was completed in two years and the event of the demolition of Babri Masjid, which is more serious than the murder of MK Gandhi, has not yet been decided.

He said that the killers of Gandhiji were hanged and the accused of Babri case were made Union Ministers, Padma Vibhushan was awarded, the justice system was slow.

He made these remarks at a time when the Supreme Court accepted the CBI's request to restore the criminal conspiracy against top BJP leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti in the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

The apex court however said that Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh has got constitutional exemption and hearing can take place after he has been removed from the post.

Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1992.

Owaisi said that there was a delay of 24 years. 24-25 years have passed. But finally the Supreme Court decided that there should be allegations of conspiracy. But I hope the Supreme Court (pending since 1992) will also decide on the contempt petition.

In many tweets, he said whether Kalyan Singh will resign to face the hearing or hide behind the curtain of being governor, will the Modi government remove him in the interest of justice, I am skeptical.

Owaisi said that he thinks that if the Supreme Court had not given permission for kar seva then the Babri Masjid would not be demolished and the Supreme Court is yet to hear the contempt petition.

After the affidavit of the Uttar Pradesh government, the Supreme Court allowed signage kar seva on November 28, 1992. The Uttar Pradesh government gave an affidavit for peaceful kar seva. On December 6, the kar sevaks had demolished the 16th century Babri Masjid.
