India's largest opposition political party, the Congress, the stating disheartening described Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech today that he did not mention his government's failures and unfulfilled promises, the Left and other opposition parties said that nothing therein was not special.

Senior Congress spokesman Anand Sharma said that Modi did not show any sensitivity about the incident of children being killed while comparing the other natural calamities from the Gorakhpur tragedy.

He said that no one has prevented the prime minister from hailing from the Kashmiris or finding solutions to the problem.

He said, "The address of the Prime Minister on Independence Day was very disappointing. After three years, it was time for him to mention his failures in fulfilling the promises made by his government, especially youth, farmers and weaker sections."

Regarding Kashmir, Sharma said, "We have not stopped them from embracing the Kashmiris. They should talk to all sections and maintain consensus in the nation and Kashmir. Everybody should try to get involved."

He said the prime minister did not show any sensitivity to the Gorakhpur incident and he killed children in large numbers in Gorakhpur due to negligent attitude that did not understand the seriousness of this matter.

D Raja, national secretary of Communist Party of India, said that nothing was special in Modi's speech. He said that when the Prime Minister was talking about embracing the Kashmiris for the solution of the dispute, then there is no confidence in their point of view.

Raja said, "They (the government) want a military solution to resolve the dispute. On the other hand, instead of using bullet and abuse, instead of embracing the Kashmiris, they talk about a solution to the dispute. There was no faith in what he said."

National Conference executive president Omar Abdullah said, "In fact, he said that the resolution of Kashmir issue can not be done by bullet or abusive. My guess is that both sides ... come in terrorists and security forces.

Omar said, "What will happen to those TV news studios without bullet and abuse which are experts in deploying these weapons against all Kashmiris."

About the notes ban, Umar said, "It is a welcome news. It means that after completing the work of counting notes of RBI notes ban, it has reached a staggering figure of Rs 3 lakh crore. Spectacular.''

Congress Chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said, ''freedom from fear, freedom from bigotry, freedom from hatred, should be free from inequality. Love and compassion should be everywhere. Jai Hind.''
