New Zealand beat India by 6 wickets

New Zealand defeated India by six wickets in the first one-day match at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, power to a double century partnership of Tom Latham (103 not out) and Ross Taylor (95).

With this victory, New Zealand has achieved a 1-0 lead in the three ODIs against India. Batting first, winning the toss, the Indian cricket team put on 281 runs against New Zealand on the power of their captain Virat Kohli (121).

The goal was not huge, but it was enough to fight it. However, New Zealand won it by scoring 284 runs at the loss of three wickets.

Martin Guptill (32) and Colin Munro (28) shared a 48-run partnership for the first wicket with the New Zealand team to chase the target. Monro on Jaspreet Bumrah's delivery was caught by Dinesh Karthik at the same score.

After this, KK Williamson (6), Kuldeep Yadav did not allow him to stay on the field for long and catches out Kedar Jadhav. After completing the 100 figure, Hardik Pandya also dropped the third wicket as Guptill. Guptill was caught out by Kartik.

Latham and Taylor then handled the scattered team to the best of their innings and set a 200-run partnership for the fourth wicket to bring the team to victory. On the total of 280, Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent the pavilion to Taylor at the hands of Yujwendra Chahal. After this, Nichols (4) brought New Zealand to the goal with Latham.

The partnership with Latham and Taylor contributed to the biggest partnership in ODIs against India. Earlier, in 2010, Scott Storis had a partnership of 188 with Taylor in Dambulla.

Earlier, the start of the innings for India was not good. Even before crossing 100, India lost their three wickets as Shikhar Dhawan (9), Rohit Sharma (20) and Kedar Jadhav (12).

Captain Kohli and Dinesh Karthik (37), who came in handy after India's innings, shared a 73-run partnership for the fourth wicket and helped the team score 144, but on the same score Karthik Caught out in the hands of Colin Munro on the ball of Tim Southee.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (25), who came with the help of Kohli after the Kartik, reached the score of 200 by scoring a half century partnership of 57 runs, Rohit and Dhawan's wicket-taker Trent Boult also showed Dhoni's way to the pavilion by getting caught out by Martin Guptill.

Hardik Pandya was able to score only 16 runs that Bolt was caught by Captain Williamson at the total of 238. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (26) was caught in the hands of Henry Nicholls on the ball of Tim Southee.

After this, Southee also sent Kohli to pavilion caught out by Bolt at the total score of 270. In his innings, Kohli played 125 balls and hit nine fours and two sixes. He completed his career of 31st ODI century.

With the dismissal of Kohli, the Indian team's innings ended on a total of 280. Kuldeep Yadav returned unbeaten pavilion without opening an account. For New Zealand, Bolt took four wickets, while Southee got three successes. Centeners was successful in taking one wicket.

In this match, Kohli scored century in his carrier's 200th match. In this one-day match with the century, he has secured second place in the top-order of centuries, retaining former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. In this category, India's Sachin Tendulkar is in first place.
