India's Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said that after the GST has been implemented, there is a need to completely change the tax rates to reduce the burden of the small and medium industries.

In the interview given to the News Agency 'Bhasha', the Revenue Secretary said that the GST system will take about a year to complete. In GST, more than a dozen central and state levies such as excise duty, service tax and VAT have been included.

GST has been implemented for nearly four months. This new indirect tax system has raised issues related to some initial problems and compliance. The GST Council also resolved many issues. The GST Council is the most decisive body in these systems.

GST Council has made minor changes in many aspects to make small and medium businesses easy to pay taxes and filing GST.

Apart from this, the refund process of exporters has been simplified and rationalized the rates of the GST on more than 100 items.

Adhiya said, "There is a need for radical change ... It may be that some items have been distributed in the same chapter. There is a need to make the list of commodities chapter wise compatible. And wherever we see that it is increasing the burden of the small and medium industries and the common man, we reduce it there, the compliance will improve."

However, he said that for the change, the fitment committee will need to be calculated, which will decide which rate is needed to make the argument consistent.

The GST system was implemented on 1st July.

Adhiya said that the committee will keep its suggestions in front of the GST Council soon. The 23rd meeting of the GST Council is to be held on November 10 in Guwahati under the leadership of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley of India.

He said that we are eager to do it as soon as possible, but it depends on how much time the fitment committee takes to work on it.

When asked about how much time GST would take to stabilize, he said that it will take a year, because it is a new system for all. There is a complete change in tax system in GST so one year is required.
