In the elections of Maharashtra's Nanded Municipal Corporation, Congress has won a one-sided victory. Of the total 81 seats, Congress got 71, BJP got six, Shiv Sena got one seat. At the same time, one seat was independently named. While the results of two seats are yet to come.

The Congress allies Nationalist Congress Party and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) failed to open account. The prestige of former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan was also at stake in this election. He is quite excited by the victory.

The enthusiasm of Ashok Chavan was also seen in the press conference held in the evening. He said that people have supported the Congress today. This victory of Congress is dedicated to the people.

Prior to voting in Nanded Municipal Corporation, the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, himself along with senior ministers of BJP, had a lot of publicity.

Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan remained camping for nearly three weeks. Congress National Vice-President Rahul Gandhi also came here for the publicity.

In the 2012 poll, the Congress had captured 41 of the 81 seats. While winning 12 seats Shiv Sena was in second place. AIMIM was number three, which won 11 seats. At the same time, BJP managed to win just two seats.

For the first time in elections of Nanded Waghala Municipal Corporation, VVPAT i.e. Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail machines was used. New VVPAT was also used along with electronic voting at 37 polling stations of Ward no. 2.

Asaduddin Owaisi's party lost the election on all seats. AIMIM contested the election with BSP.
