The International People's Tribunal blamed Myanmar for the massacre of Rohingya Muslims on Friday and said that the Myanmar army should be treated as a 'war crime' aimed at targeting the citizens in a planned manner and their other acts.

A seven-member bench of Permanent People's Tribunal (PPT), hearing the alleged torture and crime being committed in the state against Rohingya, said that Myanmar army is committing a crime in the context of 'official duties'.

The tribunal's decision states, "On the basis of evidence presented, the Tribunal has reached the decision with the consent that the intention of the massacre of Rohingya people and other Muslim groups of Myanmar is intended. Myanmar is guilty of genocide against Rohingya group. Apart from this, the genocide against Rohingya is continuing and if it is not stopped then the number of casualties in the future can be higher.''

PPT organized this hearing in Kuala Lumpur at such a time and heard the victims of Myanmar, when millions of Rohingya migrants have fled to avoid being harassed in their country.

The statements of Rohingya Muslims who fled had been recorded from the Law Faculty of Malaya University from September 18 to September 22. For this, there was a court-like arrangement in law faculty.

The purpose of the Rome-based PPT Tribunal is to highlight the alleged inhuman treatment against Rohingya and to prevent crime against them.

The tribunal's decision will be sent to international organizations, especially the United Nations, to take further steps to end violence in Myanmar.
