Sharad Yadav, former President of Janata Dal United, on Thursday accused the Narendra Modi government that he wanted to impose his will by bringing a bill on the instant triple talaq without discussions with Islamic scholars.
Sharad Yadav came to Kishanganj in Bihar along with another rebel leader, Ali Anwar, said that the Supreme Court had said that any law on instant triple talaq should be based on discussions with Islamic scholars.
Recently, JDU's rebel Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar, who were disqualified from the Rajya Sabha membership, criticized the Instant Triple Talaq Bill introduced in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Sharad Yadav told journalists in Kishanganj, "The Supreme Court has said that any law on instant triple talaq should be based on discussions with Islamic scholars. But nothing was done before presenting the bill in the Lok Sabha."
Sharad said, "The government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to impose his will by presenting a bill in the House and he is talking about his defense in this way.''
Before taking action on the triple talaq, Ali Anwar expressed displeasure over not taking acceptance of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board from the Modi Government.
Both leaders accused Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) President Nitish Kumar that they have insulted the mandate of the assembly elections of 2015 by forming an alliance government with the BJP.
