In India, Hadiya the victim of so-called Kerala 'love jihad' has said that she is a Muslim and she wants to go to her husband.
Hadiya said that no one has pressurised her to change religion. Akhila (24), who was associated with Hindu religion, confessed to Islam religion last year and married Shafin Jahan, a Muslim man. After this, she named her name Hadiya.
Hadiya left for Kochi from Kerala on Saturday (25th of November) for Delhi. On October 30, the Supreme Court had ordered Hadiya's father Ashokan to present Hadiya to the Supreme Court.
Hadiya will be present before the bench of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Deepak Mishra on Monday (November 27) and will keep her views about marriage.
While leaving from Kochi, Hadiya told the media, "I am a Muslim, I want to go with my husband, no one has pressurized me to change religion."
This marriage was challenged by Hadiya's father in the High Court, in which he had alleged that her husband's association with the Islamic State (IS) is a terrorist group. After this the High Court had invalidated this marriage.
When this matter reached the Supreme Court, where on September 20, Hadiya's husband Shafin filed a petition and sought the Supreme Court not to probe the matter with the NIA. In this case, the NIA team has also recorded Shafin's statement. The investigation agency NIA has been asked to submit its report to the Supreme Court on 27th November.
