In the Machhil sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, an army post came under the grip of avalanche, in which three soldiers were killed, while a soldier was critically injured. An army official said, "The army has lost three soldiers in Machhil sector." The official said that bodies of the three soldiers were recovered. Martyr soldiers include Havaldar Kamlesh Singh, Nayak Balvir and Sepoy Rajinder.
It is being told that the avalanche occurred at around 4:30 in the evening of 21 Rajput army posts near the Sona pandi lane of Machhil sector, which was hit an army checkpoint. However, the army had issued a warning about avalanches three days earlier. According to reports, Army troops tried to save themselves in this avalanche, but they could not save themselves. The injured soldier has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
6.2 magnitude tremors were felt on the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border and after the earthquake, the warning of the snow storm was issued. This warning was released two days ago in the districts of Kupwara, Bandipur, Shopian and Kargil.
