As the Gujarat Assembly elections are coming closer, the war between Congress and BJP on the social media is becoming pitiable.
The Congress leadership has taken over the vice president of the party Rahul Gandhi. In the morning on Thursday (October 26th), Rahul, while targeting the Finance Minister, wrote, "Dr Jaitley, the economy is in ICU from notes ban and GST. You say you are not less than anyone, but do not any strenght in your medicine."
Rahul Gandhi has earlier referred GST as 'Gabbar Singh Tax'. Rahul's tainted people so much that Gabbar Singh tax hashtag had come top trending topic on Twitter. By using this hashtag, there was a lot of taint on the Modi government.
Rahul Gandhi has been seen in sharp turn on the social media for some time now. On Twitter, Rahul Gandhi had left Prime Minister Narendra Modi behind in retweet in September. In Gujarat, voting for assembly elections is going to be held of December 9 and December 14. Election result will come on December 18.
The Narendra Modi government had implemented GST from July 1, 2017, instead of all indirect taxes in India. Legislative Assembly Elections of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are the first assembly elections after the GST is implemented by the Central Government.
In Gujarat, GST seems to be a big issue. After the applicable of GST by Gujarati traders, the 'lotus flower, my mistake' written slip became viral on social media. At the same time, the Central Government recently made changes in GST rates of various commodities, including Gujarati Khakhra.
Gujarat has a total of 182 seats in the Legislative Assembly. The BJP has been in power for more than two decades in the state. In 2002, 2007 and 2012, BJP contested the Assembly elections under the leadership of Narendra Modi and secured majority.
Anandiben Patel was made CM of Gujarat after Narendra Modi became the prime minister in 2014, but due to the strong protest following the Patidar Reservation agitation and beating of the Dalits, Anandiben Patel had to leave the chair and Vijay Rupani was made CM of Gujarat.
