In the 11th season of IPL, Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 9 wickets, thanks to the explosive innings of Shane Watson, for the third time they took possession of the title. Watson played an unbeaten 117 off 57 balls and was not dismissed by the end. During his marathon innings, Watson hit 11 fours and 8 sixes in the same match as the opposition made the opposition out of the match.
Watson played a 117-run partnership for the second wicket with Suresh Raina (32), which proved to be crucial for Chennai's win.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Earlier, while batting, the Hyderabad team gave the target of 179 runs to Chennai Super Kings thanks to the good innings of Yusuf Pathan. Yusuf, who came to the crease for batting in the 13th over of the innings, scored a fine 45 off 25 balls for his team in this crucial match. In this innings, he made two sixes and four fours.
The start of Hyderabad was not something special and in the second over of the match Shreevatsa Goswami returned to the pavilion after being dismissed for 5. After losing the first wicket, captain Ken Williamson combined with Shikhar Dhawan to get 51 runs. Both batsmen were pushing the innings steady and forcing the score to 64.
Dhoni then handed the ball to Ravindra Jadeja and Jadeja bold Shikhar Dhawan (26) in his very first over. Dhawan was trying to place a slop sweep on Jadeja's ball, but the ball hit the Thai pad while serving his bat and went straight to the stump. In this way, Sunrisers lost their second wicket on a total of 64 runs. Dhawan spent 25 balls to score 26 runs, including two fours and a six.
