Indira Gandhi is Still the Most Acceptable Ruler or Prime Minister: President Pranab Mukherjee

India's President Pranab Mukherjee remembered Indira Gandhi as the 'most admired' Prime Minister of the democratic country and recalled her critical ability.

President Pranab Mukherjee recalled the congressional leadership the decisive method of working of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi while giving an indirect message to the party's decision to make rapid decision-making in organizational matters, due to which the party in the state elections only a few months after the second division in 1978 has won a great victory.

President Pranab Mukherjee said during the thunder of the remarks of the special guests that she was an important figure of 20th century. And for the people of India, she is still the most admired ruler or prime minister.''

Recalling the past, Pranab Mukherjee said, "Congress lost in 1977. I was the junior minister at that time. She told me that Pranab, do not get discouraged from defeat. It's time to work and they worked.''

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, India's Vice President Hamid Ansari, India's former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were also present on the forum. Pranab Mukherjee paid tribute to Indira Gandhi on this occasion and released a book on his life and works. He assumed the first copy of 'India's Indira - A Centennial Tribute' released by Hamid Ansari. Congress is celebrating the Centenary Jubilee of Indira Gandhi.

This book, edited by senior Congress leader Anand Sharma, is a compilation of the works of Indira Gandhi and her life, and it's preface has been written by Sonia Gandhi, who could not join the program due to poor health.

Rahul Gandhi read her speech from Sonia Gandhi. It was said in the speech, "I saw the sense of patriotism in Indira Gandhi which was the best that she had adopted from the freedom struggle." Sonia said that Indira Gandhi was a friend and advisor and "not her desires impose over me, she was very cautious about it."

Rahul said on behalf of the Congress president, "Indira Gandhi disliked the discrimination like the post, caste and sect. They had no time for conceit or gimmick. That hypocrisy or fraud were immediately recognized by her. She was proud of being Indian, and she was a global citizen with broad and tolerant ideas.''

Recalling the second division in Congress in 1978, President Mukherjee said that Indira Gandhi was elected as the party president on January 2, 1978 and within a few days till January 20, she completed the formation of the Working Committee, the Parliamentary Board, PCC and AICC And formed the party to face Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam and NEFA assembly elections.

He said that soon after her leadership, the party won in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka with a two-third majority and made its party the largest party in Maharashtra, where the party formed the government in collaboration with the faction separated from the Congress.

President Pranab Mukherjee said that in her worst times of politics, Indiraji kept herself in more work. During this time, he also remembered the hard decisions taken by former prime minister Indira Gandhi in the interest of the country.

Pranab Mukherjee specifically mentioned her decision to free the Golden Temple from terrorists.

In his brief speech, India's Vice-President Hamid Ansari said that she was in a time of change and turmoil in the country, abroad and the world, and destiny offered her the responsibility of playing the role of the principal hero.

Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh said, "Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India and also the accepted leader of the developing countries. She believed in global peace and her point was heard with great respect."

In this program senior leaders including several former Union Ministers and Chief Ministers were present. There were many leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, Janardhan Dwivedi, P Chidambaram, Sheela Dikshit, among others.
