India demands Iran to release 17 Indian crew members aboard MSC Aries

Monday, April 15, 2024

India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has spoken on phone to Iran's Foreign Minister Aamir Abdullahian.

S Jaishankar has given this information on social media platform X.

S Jaishankar has told that during this conversation he has demanded the release of 17 Indian crew members aboard the cargo ship MSC Aries in front of Iran.

During the phone call, Jaishankar also discussed the latest situation in the region, the importance of not escalating tensions further, exercising patience and reducing tensions through diplomacy.

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, Iran had captured a cargo ship belonging to an Israeli billionaire businessman. Its crew consists of Indian sailors.

Iran carried out an airstrike on Israel late on the night of Saturday, April 13, 2024. However, most of the attacking drones and missiles fired by Iran were shot down in the air by Israel with the help of America and Britain.

Since this incident, tension between Israel and Iran has increased, posing a threat to the entire Middle East region.

India has close relations with both Israel and Iran. India has appealed to both the countries to exercise restraint.
