Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday said that incidents of violence in India have increased in the last few years due to intolerance, communal polarization and mob, and to prevent such a trend, all have to unite, because such incidents only national interest is harmed. News Agency PTI reported that Manmohan Singh was speaking on Monday in the program of the National Sadbhavana Award for Rajiv Gandhi. This time this award was given to former Governor of West Bengal, Gopal Krishna Gandhi.
Manmohan Singh said, "It is a cause of serious concern that our country has become a witness to the harassing trend in the last few years. Increasing intolerance, communal polarization, increasing incidents of hatred and violence being promoted by some groups and the adoption of the law in the hands of this crowd can only harm the national interest of our country. These trends are curse in terms of promoting peace, national integration and communal harmony. Now we need to stay and think about how we can unite and stop these trends."

I believe that he will continue his excellent record of serving the country and the people. "He said that Gopal Krishna Gandhi has had a long and remarkable career. He has long been a voice of respect for secularism, tolerance and diversity.
Recalling former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Manmohan Singh said, "It is an opportunity to pay tribute to his beloved leader Rajiv Gandhi. We follow those values which Rajiv always did and worked on his basis.''
