Brazilian President Lula da Silva has said that if Russian President Putin attends the G-20 summit to be held in the Brazilian capital Rio in 2024, he will not be arrested.
According to news agency Reuters, the Brazilian President said, "I think Putin can come to Brazil. All I can say is that if I am the President of Brazil and he comes to Brazil, then there is no question of his arrest."
The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant against Putin in March 2023 over alleged war crimes in the Ukraine war.
It is believed that for this reason he himself has not been attending meetings organized at the international level for the last few months.
He also did not come to the G20 summit in Delhi and sent his Foreign Minister Lavrov.
Lula said that before the Rio summit, a meeting of BRICS countries is going to be held in Russia and he is going there.
