A huge crowd of people is celebrating the departure of Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
After the ongoing student protests in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina has resigned and left the country.
17-year-old Fatima, who was present in the crowd in Dhaka, told the BBC, "Our country has become independent again. I have come here to celebrate my independence."
Rasuwa, a businessman by profession, says, "We were disappointed with the events happening for the last few weeks. We had lost our freedom of speech.''
Rasuwa has said, "You can see that everyone is out today. There is a sense of victory here. But the biggest priority before the country right now is to overcome the widespread corruption.''
After Sheikh Hasina left the country, the Bangladesh Army Chief has addressed the nation and appealed for peace. However, even after this appeal, there have been reports of looting and arson from across the country.
Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman has said that an interim government will now be formed in the country.

The European Union has appealed to the democratically elected government in Bangladesh to hand over power peacefully.
The EU has said that human rights should be fully respected in Bangladesh.
Joseph Borrell, the top diplomat of this group of 27 countries, has said, "Bangladesh The European Union is closely monitoring the developments in Bangladesh."
This statement from the EU came after Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar Uz-Zaman's address to the nation.
The EU says, "The European Union is deeply saddened by the deaths of people in recent protests in Bangladesh. We trust the army chief that the situation in Bangladesh will be dealt with peacefully and any illegal killings will be investigated impartially."
Joseph Borrell has said that it is very important to fix accountability for human rights violations in Bangladesh and those who have been illegally detained should be released immediately.
Students in Bangladesh were protesting against reservation for special people in big government jobs in the country since July 2024. This protest led to large-scale violence in which about 300 people died in July 2024.
While more than 110 people have died in the last two days.
After this demonstration by the students, on Monday, 5 August 2024, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister of Bangladesh and She has left the country.

The Bangladesh Army Chief appealed to the people to maintain peace. He also said that an interim government would be formed in the country and talks have been held with all parties for this.
Britain and the European Union have expressed concern over the current situation in Bangladesh and have called for immediate steps to preserve democracy in the country.
Students of the country were protesting against reservation in government jobs in Bangladesh since July 2024.
This movement became quite fierce and violent and more than 300 people were killed in July 2024 itself.
In July 2024 itself, Sheikh Hasina deployed the army to deal with this movement, but it did not have much effect on the movement.
The students of Bangladesh had appealed for a civil disobedience movement from Sunday, 4 August 2024. In this, people were appealed not to pay all government taxes.
