Hamas frees soldier Edan Alexander as Gaza faces bombardment, famine risk
May 13, 2025
Israel has continued its bombardment of Gaza, after an American-Israeli captive was released and reunited with his family.
Edan Alexander had been held for almost 20 months.
He was released after Hamas held direct talks with the US.
He's believed to be the last living American captive held by the group.
Al Jazeera’s Hamdah Salhut reports from Jordan's capital, Amman. She's there because the Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from reporting inside Israel and the occupied West Bank.
