Following a lot of debate in the Lok Sabha in India, a bill related to the Instant Triple Talaq has been passed. During the debate, AIMIM MP and executive member of the Muslim Personal Law Board, Asaduddin Owaisi raised many questions on the bill.
He said that if law is to be made then it should be made against Muslim men who leave wives.
Owaisi has demanded a law for the millions of women left by her husband including 'Bhabhi of Gujarat'. The Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad argued that while the Muslim marriage is a civil contract, how can it be kept in the category of crime?
Asaduddin Owaisi citing the census data, 80 percent of the child marriage in India is in non-Muslim community. Along with this, 23 lakh women left by husbands come from 20 lakhs Hindu community.
He said, "You (the government) do not want to bring a law to punish those husbands who left wives after marriage. ... here is your vested interest. A law should be brought under which there is a provision to punish those men who leave their wives after marriage. Only law dealing with Muslim men will increase injustice, women will not be safe.
Owaisi also questioned the creation of a law without consultation with Muslim representatives. He termed Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad as unsuccessful. Union minister expressed his unhappiness over this.
The AIADMK MP Anwar Rahaza supported the law against the Instant Triple Talaq, but raised the question on keeping it in the category of crime. They have demanded to remove it.
